Meet Issac Yawara, the Logistics Coordinator for Laga Industries, Port Moresby Depot.

Issac first started with Laga Industries in 2011 and has since grown, in the past decade, to become a vital part in the Distribution Department.

In his first role as Southern & Niugini Logistics Coordinator, Issac was responsible for ensuring containers were dispatched accordingly whilst liaising with Shipping Lines, Cartage Companies and Regional Sales Managers to confirm schedules and shipment were moved in a timely manner.

Issac moved to the Laga Depot, Port Moresby in 2018 as the Freezer Warehouse Supervisor, before being promoted to Logistics Coordinator in 2020.

In his previous role as Freezer Warehouse Supervisor, Isaac was required to schedule daily activities and toolbox meetings, confirm health and safety of staff, in line with company guidelines, and ensure issues raised by staff were made aware of to the Warehouse Managers.

Isaac would often find himself confirming freezer inventories were at zero variance and proper housekeeping was kept in order. 

Isaac’s current role of Logistics Coordinator requires him to liaise with shipping lines for schedules, cartage companies and arrange delivery of orders. In his role he also coordinates with sales managers, inventory supervisors and customer service to update shipments and transfers.

A crucial part of Isaac’s business as usual ensures store keeping units are correct and containers are delivered to the correct locations for the correct customers. 

Isaac’s new role now has him compiling monthly reports to better understand key areas that can be improved on   for future sale decisions.

When asked why he enjoys working with Laga Industries, Issac answered “because of the working culture”.

“I have been able to learn additional skills and broaden my knowledge of the industry during my time with Laga Industries,” Isaac further emphasized.
